Solar Run Uses Green New Energy to Combat Climate Change

The World Bank

Not long ago, the World Bank Group announced an ambitious goal: an average of 35% of funds in the next five years must have climate synergies.

This goal replaces the previous five-year goal of reaching 28% by 2020 and strives to ensure that 50% of these funds are used to support climate adaptation and strengthen resilience.

These are two of the many initiatives announced by the World Bank to help developing countries cope with climate change and adapt to its increasingly serious effects.

The World Bank introduction:

The World Bank is a financial institution that provides loans and investment to member countries and promotes the balanced development of international trade.

The World Bank was established in 1945 and is composed of five institution members: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Development Association, the International Finance Corporation, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, and the International Investment Dispute Settlement Center.

The World Bank regards “helping developing countries eradicate poverty and promote sustainable development” as its institutional mission.

World Bank President David Malpass said: “Climate change poses severe challenges to our development work. Poorer countries are most affected by climate events, including floods, droughts, and food insecurity. In addition to increasing climate financing. We are also working hard to achieve the results of countries in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and successfully turning to low-carbon development.”

How to Take Care of Your Solar Home Systems?

Solar Run Mbox Solar Home System

Sometimes we were asked by customers why their solar home system works shorter than it should be when it is fully charged? How to make my solar products working longer?
To answer these questions, we should know about the common features of solar home systems. Usually, it is made of solar panel, controller with battery, home appliances like LED bulbs, TV, fan, etc. The features of solar panel and appliances are relatively stable, and the lifespan is longer than the battery. The solar panel has at least 10 years lifespan, LED bulbs with 50000 hrs (about 11.5 years if use 12hrs/day) lifespan. But for the battery, the service life is influenced more by external factors like temperature and humidity user habits.

The features of the battery:
In Solar Run’s products, we use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery. It has the advantages of high safety performance, long lifespan, high-temperature performance, no memory effect, environmentally friendly. But it also has the inevitable defects of ordinary batteries.

  1. Worn out after the lifespan
Under standard conditions, the LiFePO4 battery has 2000times deep charging cycles, more than 5 years lifespan. After 2000times cycles, the battery will be worn out, and remains only 80% capacity or even less. That’s why we charge the battery fully but the working time is shorter than it should be.
  2. Ionic activity
When the product is put aside and does not use for a long time. The movement speed of the ions will slow down or crystal. So we should keep the ionic active by using it frequently. In addition, if often over-discharged, the battery lifespan will also be shortened.
  3. Static power consumption
Sometimes even we do not use the product, we will see the battery level decline. Why? Because the electronic component in the controller consumes power. We call it static power. If the battery level becomes less to a certain degree because of the static power consumption, but still not charged, the battery will be damaged. The battery capacity will decrease or even no use anymore.

Based on the features of the battery, here are some tips to take care of your solar products:

  1. Do not use the battery frequently. Even if there is over-discharge protection, it’s better to charge the battery before the battery runs out of power.
  2. If do not use the system, turn it off. This is to decrease Static power consumption.
  3. Clean the solar panel regularly. In some places, it is very dusty, it is highly suggested to clean the solar panel at least once a week. If the solar panel is covered by dust, the charging speed will be slow.
  4. If do not use the system for a long time, keep the product in a cool and dry place. And charge the system at least every 6 months. It’s is for keeping the battery ionic active and avoiding battery depletion. This tip is more for distributors, who have products in stock.

What is An Inverter?

1. Introduction

There are two kinds of electricity, DC and AC. Homes that are connected to utility power use AC electricity. Flashlights, small radios and automobiles use DC electricity. In order for you can use solar to operate the appliances, an inverter will convert PV power from DC to AC.

Inverters can be further classified as units that use batteries (UPS) and those that use the utility grid as power storage (Grid-tied). Inverters are now required to possess meters that will indicate their performance and some manufacturers supply remote display units that can be mounted inside the home. It is important to check on your inverter regularly to become acquainted with its operation and performance.

Virtually, today all household appliances and other major electrical fixtures and equipment can be run by an inverter. In the event of a power shutdown, an inverter is extremely useful as an emergency backup power unit, and if optimally charged, you will still be able to use your computer, TV, lights, power tools, kitchen appliances and other electrical conveniences. Of course, this will also depend on the type of inverter used, specifically, the one designed or recommended for powering a combination of high energy-consuming appliances, fixtures and equipment.

The inverter may be built as standalone equipment for applications such as solar power, or to work as a backup power supply from batteries which are charged separately. The other configuration is when it is a part of a bigger circuit such as a power supply unit, or a UPS. In this case, the inverter input DC is from the rectified mains AC in the PSU, while from either the rectified AC in the UPS when there is power, and from the batteries whenever there is a power failure.

 2. Applications

Inverters are used for a variety of applications that range from small car adapters to household or office applications, and large grid systems.

  • Uninterruptible power supplies
  • As standalone inverters
  • In solar power systems
  • As a building block of a switched-mode power supply

3. How does the AC inverter work with the Solar Run product?

After the discussion with lots of customers and marketing surveys, we found that many clients, no matter in urban or rural areas, have the demand for both AC and DC electricity due to their need to charge laptops and use their existing AC powered appliances like TV and fan. Meanwhile, they also want to use a DC solar home system for lighting to save more living expenses.

Based on this reason, Solar Run Energy has designed the Mbox solar home system with an external AC inverter optional as the solution. Through this way, diesel generators could be absolutely replaced by clean energy and people no longer need to bear the high cost, noisy and polluted machine. Also, the big capacity Mbox could power the appliances for more than one day, therefore, people could still enjoy their family time even when the rainy day comes.
